Mass Awareness Campaign Cum cleaning drive At Iew Mawkyrwat

Mawkyrwat june 7,2018:- The Mawkyrwat Town committee in collaboration with the District administration,District Swacch Bharat mission and basin Development Unit of mawkyrwat today organized an Awareness campaign and cleaning Drive at Iew Mawkyrwat wherein Miss.I.Laloo, Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District was the chief guest.The programme is part of the extension of World Environment Day,2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Miss Laloo said the programme serves as a platform where people were taught on how to segregate Solid and Liquid waste ,Domestic Waste and Water Treatment Plan and how to translate the same in their own homes in a recycling system .She emphasized upon the need and importance of sanitation and hygiene thereby reminding citizens of their roles and responsibilities towards preserving the environment. She said that the government is trying its best to bring about development in various sectors especially tourism but the government alone cannot make it possible without people’s participation. She called upon for support and co-operation in bringing about transformation in this area with a hope to contain pollution, a greatest menace and a threat to civilization.

Shri.MarkWest Kharkongor, State Consultant, Swacch Bharat Mission said that Solid and Liquid waste can turn into wealth if implemented through plans and projects by giving power point presentation on “how to segregate Domestic Waste, Domestic Waste and Water Treatment Plan in a recycled manner “.He said that the same method can be implemented in our homes as domestic waste can be used as manure and other purposes.

Shri.W.Syiemlieh,S.D.O,P.H.E,District Co-ordinator Swacch Bharat Mission ,Shri L.Shangdiar, Manager Sankur and Shri R.R.Lyngkhoi ,Myntri Shnong Mawkyrwat also spoke on the occasion.

Shri.S.Lyngdoh,Assistant District Project Manager,Basin Development Unit, Mawkyrwat also gave a power point presentation .Shri.L.K.Diengdoh ,E.A.C,Nodal Officer,BDU,Mawkyrwat chaired the function.

Earlier.Shri.L.Dhar ,E.E.cum Member Secretary District Swacch Bharat Mission,South West Khasi Hills District delivered the welcome address while Shri Y.G.Lyngdoh,Executive Member,Sankur offered the vote of thanks.
