Social Welfare sector is a very important sector as it deals with human resources Index and Development, the resource are scare and the needs are diverse ranging from women’s status in the family and society, women and children are the most important section in our society, Hence top priority are to be taken up in implementing programme for their welfare, Orphan, Destitute children and deserted women. Priority is also given to the welfare of the PWD NGO’s and Voluntary Organization play a vital role in the development of the society and most of the scheme are implemented through NGO’s/voluntary organisation and it is also felt necessary to recognise and provide training and Financial assistance to the NGO’s and voluntary organisation, effort is also being made to mobilize the NGO’s to take up the scheme of the central as well as the state sectors.

  1. Scholarship to Physically Handicapped Students

    Scholarship was given only to those handicapped children who are still studying in school. Disabled students who received Disability Certificate is entitle to received the scholarship with a 40%. The rate of Scholarship given differ from the Day Scholar and Hosteller. The scholarship was given to Handicapped Students after completion of study, the amount was given to Handicapped Students after completion of study, the amount was given as follows :-From class -‘A’ to Class –III stipend was given at the rate of Rs.100/- p. m amount 1200/- and class IV to class VIII at the rate of Rs.120/-p.m amount is Rs.1440/- and class IX onwards at the rate of Rs.200/-p. m an amount of Rs.2400/-.

  2. Celebration of Anti-Drug Day

    Anti Drug Day is celebrate Internationally every year on 26th June .The purpose of this Day is to make the public students and aware of the ill effects of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Public meeting was held on the Day where College students, Higher Secondary School and High School students usually target. Resources with adequate knowledge on the topic are usually involved to educate the target group. Pamphlets, Banner, wrist band and badges were distributed on the Day to each participant. During 26th June 2013 Anti Drugs Day was held at Hep Memorial School Sakwang, where interaction session with related topic. The programme was celebrated successfully.

  3. Welfare of Aged

    The Schemes covers women above 60 years of age men above 65 year of age where Financial Medical Assistance as one time grant is provided to them in order to enable them to undergo treatment. An amount of Rs.2200/- was given to each beneficiaries.

  4. Women Welfare National Plan of Action Policy and Empowerment

    Celebration Women Empowerment every year was celebrated on march 8th March. The plan of action incorporate programme action oriented on Women ‘s component and other related women activities of allied Department , effort is also being made for convergence and net working of women’s Development Programme at different level with NGO’s which have strong presence at the community level for the empowerment of women.

  5. Implementation of Disability Act ,1995

    Under this scheme the grant was given for purchase of Book, Uniforms Conveyance Allowances and on Employed Allowance. This scheme was implemented only for Handicapped students . In this scheme an amount of Rs. 250/ 350 /450 was given for purchase of Books, Uniforms and Rs.1200/- was provided to those handicapped who could not walk and difficult to travel by taxi Rs.6000/- only was given to those handicapped who had not got chance to work either in office or in any work place .The Uniforms Grant was given once in two year.

  6. Welfare of Aged Infirm and Destitute

    International Day of Older Person is usually celebrated every year on 1st Oct since last five year . National Policy on Older Persons in 1999 aim at giving a National focus to the older persons each recognised is 60 year above which one became a senior citizen. The aim is to sensitize the Society at large about the services render by the senior citizen so that they are not neglected by their children and society. Financial assistance is given to Voluntary Organisations working for the Welfare of Destitute, Widows, Aged and Infirm Women.

  7. Assistance to Person with Disabilities for Vocational Training for Self Employment

    One year vocational training is imported to P.W.D in Carpentry ,Handicraft , Knitting , Embroidery , Tailoring , Candle Making etc , during the training period they are given a stipend of Rs.500/-p. m and an honorarium of Rs.800/-p. m is given to the instructor.

  8. Grant in Aid

    Grant In Aid to viable voluntary organisation doing services for the Women Welfare ,Child Welfare and Welfare of Handicapped and any other Welfare activities such as Anti-Drug and other social evils . The grant was given only to Viable Organisation who has put in 5 years services and engaged in more than two or three Welfare Programme .

  9. Celebration of World Disabled Day

    3rd December was declared as World Disabled Day every year .This Office in collaboration with Bethany Society Mawkyrwat, Wellspring Social Services Society, Nongstoin Social services society, Nongstoin Rural Youth Development society and other missionary societies have organised sport and games medical check up and Public Meeting along with prize distribution. This year the collaboration will be held on 3/12/2012 at Fatima Convent Nongkasen.

  10. Implementation of Domestic Violence Act

    With a view to providing more effective protection of the right of women who are victims of violence of any kind of violence of any kind and also to provide relief and protection to the victims of Domestic Violence .

  11. Assessment Camp for Person With Disabilities

    The office of the District Social Welfare Officer is usually organised Assessment Camp for issuing Disability Certificate, ID Card, Health check up, by the specialist for Person With Disabilities every doors years covering Mawkyrwat and Ranikor C&RD Block in collaboration with state resources centre Civil Hospitals Shillong , Bethany Society Mawkyrwat and other NGO’s / Voluntary organisation working for the welfare of Person With Disabilities.
